dc.descriptionTrade experts, business executives, and advocates of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) from across the continent have expressed concerns about the slow progress on the ratification of the Protocol on the movement of people. In a document released at the end of a three-day Africa Prosperity Dialogue held in Ghana from 26 to 28 January on the theme “AfCFTA: From Ambition to Action-Delivering Prosperity Through Continental Trade,” African countries are called upon to “accelerate the ratification of the Protocol.” Under the theme: “AfCFTA: From Ambition to Action, Delivering Prosperity through Continental Trade,” the three-day event was organized by Ghana’s Africa Prosperity Network, and the AfCFTA Secretariat with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre. Stephen Karingi delivers opening remarks; our work at the ECA shows that the AFC FTA implementation promises impressive benefits for the continent in terms of increased Intra-African trade increased incomes and reduced reduction in poverty.en
