Africa Industrialization Week 2022: Side Event on Harnessing the AfCFTA for Africa’s Industrialization: Fostering Competitiveness and Sustainability in the Digital Era
| dc.description | The African Union (AU) Extraordinary Summit on Industrialization and Economic Diversification and AU Extraordinary Session on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) took place in Niamey, Niger, from 20 - 25 November 2022. The theme of the Summit was “Industrializing Africa: Renewed Commitment towards Inclusive and Sustainable Industrialization and Economic Diversification.” Prior to the Summit, several statutory meetings related to the AU Assembly took place in early November, including meetings of senior officials and Ministers in charge of industrialization, economic diversification, and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) A side event on "Harnessing the AfCFTA for Africa's industrialization: Fostering competitiveness and sustainability in the digital era" was held during African industrialization week at the African Union extraordinary summit on industrialization and economic diversification. ECA trade director Stephen Karingi led experts through discussion at this event and touched on the role of the investment community in Green Financing and digitalization and how they link to industrialization efforts in Africa.
