The UN family in Ethiopia on Tuesday 5 June celebrated World Environment Day under the theme " Beat Plastic Pollution." ECA's Executive Secretary was represented at the event by the director of administration, Carlos Haddad, who, after participating in a tree planting exercise, made a brief presentation on efforts made by ECA to keep the UN compound clean and green. Mr. Haddad stated that besides its regular recycling and waste collection activities, ECA does an annual green gas emissions test as part of the Commission's effort to reduce green gas emissions. Mr. Haddad invited all UN agencies in the compound to "join us on this initiative so that we can together make our compound truly green and clean." He was speaking during a round-table discussion to mark World Environment Day.en
