dc.description | The Security Council opened its first meetings in Africa on 28 January in Addis Ababa, the Council's first meetings away from U.N. Headquarters in 20 years. The 15-member Council, acceding to a request from the Organization of African Unity (OAU), decided on 19 January to hold meetings in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, beginning 28 January, and ending not later than 4 February. The meetings were devoted to ""Consideration of questions relating to Africa with which the Security Council is currently seized and the implementation of the Council's relevant resolutions"". The meetings were held in Africa Hall, the seat of the U.N. Economic Commission for Africa. | en |
