The event commenced with a preparatory meeting of the Committee of Experts of the Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development and concluded with the ministerial segment.
As part of the conference, a roundtable titled "Global Financial Architecture Reforms to Address the Intersection of Debt, Climate, and Development in Africa" took place on March 4, 2024.
During this discussion, African ministers of finance explored strategies to expand the scope of the global financial architecture. Key topics included the development of innovative and sustainable finance mechanisms, the reallocation of Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) to support low-income and vulnerable middle-income countries, and enhancements to carbon pricing mechanisms in alignment with the Paris Agreement on climate change.
