| dc.description | The Eleventh Conference on Climate Change and Development in Africa and Africa Climate Summit (CCDA XI) was held at Safari-Park Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya from September 1-3, 2023, under the theme: “Green Growth and Climate Finance Solutions for Africa and the World”. The Climate for Development in Africa (CimDev-Africa) is a joint initiative of the African Union Commission, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the African Development Bank. The ClimDev Africa partners, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry of the Government of Kenya and with the support of the Pan-African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) proposed to convene this event.
Ephraim Mwepya Shitima, Chair of the African Group of Negotiators on Climate Change, emphasized the importance of the 11th session of the CCDA, a Platform for Top-level Information on Climate Change in Africa. He highlighted that the meeting is a crucial bridge between science, policy, and implementation. The information obtained at this session is instrumental in shaping Africa's stance on climate change and informs the continent's negotiating positions.
