| dc.description | The 78th General Assembly took place on September 18 to 26 in New York under the theme, “Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 agenda and its sustainable development goals towards peace, prosperity, progress and the sustainability for all. The 2023 report, titled “Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and African Union Agenda 2063 at all levels”, was released on the margins of the 78th United Nations General Assembly on 18 - 19 September 2023. The report assessed Africa’s progress in implementing the SDGs and the African Union’s Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want, amidst unfolding crises. It focused on five key SDGs, highlighting progress, the challenges, and the numerous opportunities for improving Africa’s development prospects. ECA's Acting Executive, Antonio Pedro, participated in the SDGs Action Weekend during the UN General Assembly 2023 in New York. He praised the opportunities to advance the SDGs in Africa. He emphasized that the message aligns with what has been communicated in Africa. Pedro acknowledged that the SDG implementation is off track but highlighted the potential for rescuing the SDGs through ambitious leadership, integrated collaborations, and partnerships at all levels. | en |
