Charting Africa’s Future: Insights from AUC, ECA, OSAA and AfDB at 2023 Africa Sustainable Development Report Launch
| dc.description | The 78th General Assembly took place on September 18 to 26 in New York under the theme, “Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 agenda and its sustainable development goals towards peace, prosperity, progress and the sustainability for all. The 2023 report, titled “Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and African Union Agenda 2063 at all levels”, was released on the margins of the 78th United Nations General Assembly on 18 - 19 September 2023. The report assessed Africa’s progress in implementing the SDGs and the African Union’s Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want, amidst unfolding crises. It focused on five key SDGs, highlighting progress, the challenges, and the numerous opportunities for improving Africa’s development prospects. This video features representatives from the AUC, ECA, OSAA, and AfDB who provided insights at the report launch and they highlighted that The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) require us to transition from individual projects and pilots to achieve the necessary scale, ambition, and integration. It's increasingly evident that addressing biased credit rating in Africa necessitates better data collection across the continent, enabling credit rating agencies to utilize domestic resources effectively. Emphasizing domestic resource mobilization is crucial as it empowers countries and governments, while also addressing data gaps. By effectively mobilizing resources, we can identify and fill the gaps with the necessary data to further mobilize resources. | en |
