| dc.description | The Eleventh Conference on Climate Change and Development in Africa and Africa Climate Summit (CCDA XI) was held at Safari-Park Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya from September 1-3, 2023, under the theme: “Green Growth and Climate Finance Solutions for Africa and the World”. The Climate for Development in Africa (CimDev-Africa) is a joint initiative of the African Union Commission, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the African Development Bank. The ClimDev Africa partners, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry of the Government of Kenya and with the support of the Pan-African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) proposed to convene this event.
During the 11th conference on climate change and development in Africa, Antonio Pedro, Acting Executive Secretary of ECA, gave the closing statement. He expressed his honor in delivering the closing statement and emphasized the pivotal role of CCDA as a forum for the continent to identify opportunities and solutions in the face of climate and development crises. Pedro stressed the need to change the narrative about Africa, from portraying it as a victim to highlighting its potential as a powerhouse for climate solutions. He also emphasized the interconnectedness of climate action and development action, emphasizing that they are part of the same continuum. Finally, Pedro highlighted the interlinkages between climate action and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), underscoring that climate action is an integral part of development action. | en |
