| dc.description | The tenth Session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development was held on 23-25 April 2024 at the UN Conference Center, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in a hybrid format to allow both ways in-person and virtual participation. The theme was Reinforcing the 2030 agenda for sustainable development and agenda 2063: the Africa we want, of the African Union and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises the effective delivery of sustainable resilient, and innovative solutions. The Forum was organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in collaboration with the African Union Commission, the African Development Bank, and the United Nations system organizations. Side events and pre-events took place during the forum. Christine Umutoni, UN Resident Coordinator in Liberia indicates that Knowledge is power, but knowledge that is not shared is powerless. Sharing knowledge is a critical part of the UN. At the country level, the UN looks to successful solutions from other countries. For example, when we encounter a problem and want to address it on our own, there might be a successful solution in another country that we are unaware of. Compiling successful strategies from different places and sharing them with others seeking solutions will help accelerate development. Instead of starting from scratch, we can build on what others have achieved and share what works in our own country. | en |
