The UN Economic Commission for Africa organized its monthly social dialogue series inviting individuals to feel that their authentic selves are welcomed at work, enabling them to share their social experiences and lessons learned in their professional journey. This episode was hosted by the Director of the Gender, Poverty, and Social Policy Division (Sweta Saxena) and joined by Hani Zarrini, the Chief of HR Strategy, and Information Management. The eighth episode of the Social Dialogue Series took place at the ECA on Wednesday, May 15th, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Limpopo Library KMSS Lecture Room Addis Ababa. Episode eighth was themed ‘The Journey can be better than the Destination.’ Thomas Sinmegn and Alieda Yedan were also joined as discussants. The discussion focused on personal journeys that everyone can relate to. Each person's story has resonated with us in some way. In terms of the UN systems discussed it does not involve the private sector. A Ph.D. is not required for any position within the United Nations. However, it's important to enhance our educational background in some way. Having an enhanced background in education can be beneficial for working with the United Nations and other organizations. While some positions at the World Bank may require a Ph.D., for the IMF, a Ph.D. is almost a requirement for higher-level positions, while a master's degree is generally acceptable for other UN organizations.en
