dc.description | Students from the University of Western Ontario in Canada visited the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) on 8 May 2024. During their visit, they met with the heads of various ECA divisions.
In the meeting, Zuzana Schwidrowski, Director of the Macroeconomic and Governance Division (MGD) at ECA, emphasized that ECA supports member countries in balancing development needs with fiscal responsibility, which is crucial for sustainable and inclusive growth. She highlighted that collaboration, innovation, and transparency are key to navigating this challenge effectively.
Charles Michael Akol, Environmental Affairs Officer in the Green Economy and Blue Economy Section of the Technology, Climate Change & Natural Resource Management Division, stated that ECA assists member states in transitioning to a green and blue economy. He stressed that investing in natural resources, renewable energy, sustainable fisheries, and addressing climate change is not just a choice but an imperative for a thriving future. | en |
