| dc.description | The International Conference on Youth and Democratization in Africa: Lessons and Comparative Experiences was held on November 1 - 3, 2012, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA-GPAD) jointly organized the conference with the Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA, and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) - Regional Office. Mr. Eugene Owusu Resident Representative of UNDP explained the African Youth Charter states that youths are partners, assets, and prerequisites for sustainable development and peace and prosperity in Africa. This recognition highlights their unique contribution to present and future development. The charter includes a comprehensive set of articles that address what Africa must do to meet the needs of its youth.
