Opening Session of the African Economic Conference 2012
| dc.description | The Seventh Annual African Economic Conference (AEC) 2012 was held in Kigali from 30 October to 2 November. The AEC was coordinated jointly by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The Conference was organized around the theme: Fostering Inclusive and Sustainable Development in Africa in an Age of Global Economic Uncertainty. The Conference comprises plenary and concurrent sessions. The plenary sessions featured presentations and discussions by invited prominent academics, policymakers, business, and opinion leaders, as well as representatives from development organizations who all share a deep passion for the continent's development and have unique perspectives on how it can be achieved. This video shows the welcoming remarks of Helen Clark, Administrator, UNDP at the African Economic Conference 2012, she stated that This conference is indeed a form of dialogue around the ideas the evidence, and the policies that are available for advanced inclusive and sustainable development in an uncertain time in which we live and we made against that context in very uncertain economic times and added Africa’s dynamic youth population offers the innovation and creativity given the opportunity for a huge demographic dividend. Remarks to the Opening Session of the African Economic Conference 2012 of Donald Kaberuka, President, African Development Bank indicated that a country that has made a remarkable economic turnaround and demonstrated that inclusive growth is not only possible but is also a good investment.
