| dc.description | The 17th Internet Governance Forum (IGF) was hosted by the Government of Ethiopia with the support of UN ECA and UN DESA. The forum took place from 28 November to 2 December 2022 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, under the overarching theme of Resilient Internet for a Shared Sustainable and Common Future. There were five themes that guided the agenda of the meeting, drawn from the Global Digital Compact found in the UN Secretary-General's report on Our Common Agenda.
The 17th annual IGF was hosted in a hybrid format. The meeting aimed at accommodating the participation of stakeholders present onsite in Addis Ababa or participating online in an equitable manner. This hybrid approach also extended to the session organizing teams (organizers, speakers, moderators, and rapporteurs) who participated online or onsite.
IGF 2022 High-Level Leaders Session on Digital Trust and Security was held on November 29, 2022.
As digitalization is a key driver of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, considering all digital challenges is necessary. UN Secretary-General António Guterres said, “Looking to the future, two seismic shifts will shape the 21st century: the climate crisis and digital transformation.” Enabling that transformation includes mitigating digital risks.
This session explored gaps and barriers affecting digital trust and security in regional and global contexts, translated international normative frameworks into practical implementations, and shared best practices for enhancing collaboration and coordination among stakeholders to build cyber resilience and align Digital Trust and security principles with the 2030 Agenda. | en |
