| dc.description | Each year, retired staff members are invited to participate in the Staff Recognition and Long Service Awards Programme, generally organized towards the end of the year.
The Felicitation Programme for retired staff members was a small gesture for recognising the immense contributions that these staff have put in over years of valuable service to the UN, ECA organized the first in the series of felicitation programmes for retiring staff members – in line with the overall efforts for change management towards building ECA 2.0. The staff members were honoured in a short programme organised at the Delegates’ Lounge area of the UN Conference Centre from 3.30 PM to 4.30 PM.In his address, the Acting ES Mr. Pedro spoke about the forty-three impending retirements from ECA in the next two years, the huge loss of talent, institutional knowledge and technical expertise and the need to undertake workforce planning and succession planning in adequate measure to addres the skill and experience gaps that were bound to occur due to the retirements. He congratulated the retiring staff members for the long years of dedicated service that they had rendered and wished them and their families success and good health.
