| dc.description | Capacity-Building Workshop for the Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX) was held on 06-07 July 2023 at Radisson Blu Hotel Addis Ababa. The workshop was co-organized by the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH), Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX), and FSD Africa. The capacity-building workshop addressed various topics, including the money market, fixed-income market, equity market, policymaking, and market development. Mr. Antonio Pedro's Acting Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa, Message on Capacity Building Workshop for the ESX, indicated that we must build a strong pan-African network of capital markets for standard-setting information sharing, peer learning and eventually listing and trading. Today we have over 30 stock exchanges operating in Africa. But individually our Capital markets are still generally small. Thus, vulnerable to headwinds from Global markets. By joining hands with peer African exchange and harmonizing the rules and standards, we can facilitate Capital flows and Investments across the continent, create Market resilience against external turbulence, elevate the African Continental fair trade area, and boost private sector development. | en |
