| dc.description | The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) has launched a program to support Member States in the modernization of administrative data for statistical purposes. The program follows the roadmap for the transformation and modernization of official statistics in Africa, which was endorsed by the ECA Conference of Ministers of Finance and Economic Planning and Development last week. Two workshops are underway to initiate the process in Cameroon and Uganda. These are co-organized by the ECA African Center for Statistics (ACS) and the National Statistical Offices in collaboration with the United Nations Resident Coordinator Offices. Programme on the modernization of administrative data for statistical purposes in Cameroon was held on 28 - 31 March 2023. In a statement delivered on behalf of the United Nations system in Cameroon on March 28, Mr. Joseph Tedou said in his remark, “The use of administrative sources for the production of statistics will obviously make it possible to limit the statistical burden of respondents in particular businesses, easily collect a large amount of data, reduce the cost of statistical production operations aligned with a special data dissemination standard.” | en |
