| dc.description | The ECA Africa Hall Project Groundbreaking Ceremony is an event that marks the beginning of the construction of the renewed Africa Hall building in Addis Ababa. Antonio Pedro is the Acting Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), which is responsible for the project. The Africa Hall Project Groundbreaking Ceremony made on 14 October 2022 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Antonio Pedro, Acting Executive Secretary of ECA Africa expressed the magnitude of the project; in 1963 the Charter of the Organization of the African Unity (OAU) was signed in the Africa Hall, becoming perhaps the single most significant achievement of unity for Africa’s post-colonial history. The modernization of the Africa Hall will preserve and restore the historical and cultural values embedded in its architecture and enable Africa to tap into the global creative industry. Beyond one of the state-of-the-art conferencing places in Addis Ababa, our vision is for it to be a significant tourism destination, incorporating the rich history of the pan-African movement through a permanent exhibition, featuring professionally curated cultural, historical, and natural heritage sites. In addition, it will showcase great and notable works of pan-African artists and serve as a hub for various activities focused on showcasing Africa’s history, the achievements of the United Nations family, and Ethiopia’s role in Africa’s modern history and culture. | en |
