dc.description | Pressing ahead with efforts to provide knowledge for better responses to sustainability challenges in Ethiopia, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) on Tuesday, 1 November, delivered thousands of books to the Diredawa University. Encompassing everything from health(SDG3) to gender equality (SDG5) and education(SDG4), the books donated will contribute to the knowledge needed to fight poverty in all its forms, SDG1 reduce inequalities, SDG10 and tackle climate change SDG13
Led by ECA’s Chief of Knowledge Management Service Section, Ms. Irene Onyancha, the donation echoes UNECA’s compelling vision and mission of delivering ideas and actions for an empowered, inclusive, and transformed Africa through the offering and access to top-notch knowledge needed to build resilience.
“We need to prepare for and acclimatize to the coming changes. To do so, we need access to knowledge, and that’s exactly what we are doing today, ensuring equitable access to the knowledge needed to solve global challenges,” said Ms. Irene Onyancha
The donations will go a long way to enrich education and Diredawa’s University Library’s collection with relevant books that address complex continental issues.
On their part, the Director of the University Library, Ms. Mekdes Getachew, thanked ECA for their usual support in guaranteeing that their knowledge ecosystem is equipped with vital learning enrichment for students and the general public. | en |
