COP27: Session on Africa Trade Exchange ATEX Pathways Toward a Greener Africa
| dc.description | The Arab Republic of Egypt hosted the 27th Conference of the Parties (COP27) to the United Nations Framework Convention of Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Sharm El Sheikh on 6-18 November 2022 under the theme of uniting the world to tackle climate change. The COP27 summit will bring parties together to accelerate action toward the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UNFCCC. African regional organizations, namely the Africa Union Commission (AUC), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the African Development Bank (AfDB), and partners jointly developed an Africa Pavilion to host side events, provide a platform for discussion and ensure that Africa’s concerns and priorities are adequately taken into consideration during the climate change negotiation process. Deputy Executive Secretary Hanan Morsy, at the COP27 session on the Africa Exchange Trade Platform ATEX, said the platform could avail access to essential commodities at affordable prices under AfCFTA; and commends the platform as an African-driven response to the global food crisis. | en |
