| dc.description | Experts Group Meeting of the 6th Conference of African Ministers Responsible for Civil Registration was held on 24-28th October 2022 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on the theme: A Decade into APAI-CRVS: Reflecting on progress and accelerating efforts towards 2030 through transformed systems.
The meeting, which drew seasoned panelists from within and outside Africa, is envisaged to identify priority strategic actions that will accelerate the progress of civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) systems in Africa over the next eight years, ensuring there’s considerable progress in achieving 100% and 80% registration of births and deaths respectively as set by the sustainable development agenda by 2030.
A session on Leadership, budget advocacy, and sustainability in civil registration and vital statistics systems was held, and the session was moderated by Registrar of Births and Deaths, Ghana, Henrietta Lamptey; and the presentations about Leadership and advocacy for civil registration and vital statistics systems were made by the Deputy Director, Anglophone Africa,
Vital Strategies, James Mwanza) and the Director General of the National Civil Status Office, Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, Cameroon, Alexandre Marie Yomo, and general discussion and recommendations were made throughout the session. | en |
