| dc.description | The second Conference on Land Policy in Africa was hosted by the Land Policy Initiative (LPI), which was a joint initiative of the African Union Commission, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the African Development Bank. The Conference was a policy and learning event whose goal is to deepen the capacity for land policy in Africa through improved access to knowledge and information on land policy development and implementation. A key focus of the paper was on exploring how the recent radicalization of the land issue can be linked to and be an opportunity for addressing the problems of youth land rights and rising youth unemployment in South Africa. The paper ultimately suggests recommendations for an inclusive and progressive land reform process in South Africa in the future based on unique historical and contemporary experiences in the country as well as on experiences in resolving the “land question” elsewhere. This process should take on generational board concerns in addition to the traditionally recognized race, class, and gender aspects. | en |
