Ceremony in commemoration of former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan 1938-2018
| dc.description | The United Nations family in Ethiopia, as well as representatives from the government of Ethiopia and the diplomatic corps, gathered in Africa Hall to honor former Secretary-General and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Mr. Kofi Annan, who passed away on 18 August at the age of 80. He was a noble defender of humanity, symbolizing great authority and wisdom in public and private spheres. Executive Secretary of the UNECA and other Government officials, Africa Union Commission representative, Embassy representatives, colleagues, and a representative of the UN country team remarked on the commemoration. In her remark, Ms. Vera Songwe said, “He essentially was the voice of the voiceless.” | en |
