| dc.description | The first Joint Annual Meeting of the AU-ECA Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development was held on 26 March to 02 April 2008, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Opening of the conference and Presidential reflections were made in the first session. Welcoming remark was delivered by Mr. Abdoulie Jannah, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa, and statements made by Mr. Donald Kaberuka, the President of the African Development Bank; Mr. Alpha Oumar Konare, the Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union; Mr. Ban Ki-moon, the Secretary-General of the United Nations; and opening of the conference and overview of the theme was delivered by H.E. Mr. Meles Zenawi, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and chairperson of the NEPAD Heads of State Implementation Committee and the African Peer Review Forum of Heads of State and Government. | en |
