Launch of Climate for Development in Africa (ClimDev-Africa) Programme
| dc.description | The seventh African Development Forum (ADF VII) was held in Addis Ababa at the united nations conference center from October 10-15th, 2010, under the theme of “ Acting on climate change for Sustainable development in Africa.” The African Union, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the African development bank organized the meeting. The meeting was attended by all stakeholders from across the African continent governments, civil society, the private sector, the UN Agencies, and others. The African Development Bank (AfDB), the African Union Commission (AUC), and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) Wednesday, October 13, 2010, in Addis Ababa, launched the Climate for Development in Africa (ClimDev-Africa) Programme at a ceremony held on the sidelines of the Seventh African Development Forum. The instrument creating the programme’s joint secretariat, which will be based at UNECA in Addis Ababa, was signed by AfDB President Donald Kaberuka, AUC Chairman Jean Ping, and ECA Executive Secretary Abdoulie Janneh. “This launching is taking place as climate change has taken centre stage in the world,” said Jean Ping, who spoke on behalf of the signatories. | en |
