It brings together Ministers, senior officials, experts, and practitioners from UN member States, the private sector, civil society, academia, and UN organizations. The 2022 Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development took place on the theme, 'Building forward better: A green, inclusive and resilient Africa poised to achieve the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063. The Opening session was moderated by the journalist Lerato Mbele of South Africa. It was officially opened by the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame. Opening statements were delivered by the Minister of Environment, Sustainable Development and the Congo Basin of the Congo, and Chair of the seventh session of the Forum, Arlette Soudan-Nonault; the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa, Vera Songwe; the President of the Economic and Social Council, and Permanent Representative of Botswana to the United Nations, Collen Kelapile; the Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture of the African Union Commission, Josefa Sacko, and the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed.
