The Technology in Government in Africa (TIGA) Awards celebrated African Government's commitment to e-Government (electronic government) to ensure digital interaction with their public, known as government to citizens, or with the business community through government to business, and between government agencies. This interaction consists of the use of information and the public sector at all levels of government (city, state/ province, national, international). Simply put, e-government is about using ICT to enhance access to and delivery of government services to benefit citizens and the business community, which is becoming an increasingly important mechanism in the African public sector. The concept of TIGA is premised on the ECA-led African Information Society Initiative (AISI) framework to build Africa's information and communication capacity for development.en
