| dc.description | UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN-DESA), in collaboration with Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL), UN-Energy, and the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), was organized this event to strengthen capacities on policy, technical and entrepreneurial approaches to rural energy access for eradicating poverty. Specific objectives of the conference include, among others: promoting dialogue among practitioners, experts, donors, and policy-makers; assessing potential integrated policy options to address rural energy poverty; identifying synergies between energy and other development factors including health, education, economic growth, gender, water, and food security; discussing ways to apply models and practices to scale-up clean cookstoves and renewable energy home systems; and supporting the Rio+20 follow-up process and the post-2015 development agenda.
This session examined the views and experiences of practitioners, including best practices, challenges, lessons learned, etc. It examined practitioner priorities in the major areas of advanced cookstoves and off-grid electricity and heating.
