The Africa Pavilion at COP21 was a collaboration of the African Union Commission (AUC), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), Planning and Coordination Agency, and the African Development Bank (AfDB), the four partner organizations joined forces to convene the successful and well-attended Africa Pavilion and jointly hosted many of the side events that took place at the pavilion. The Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) has said that unless climate negotiations and governments begin to put faces and people behind the statistics on impacts of climate change in Africa, “the sense of urgency with which the upcoming negotiation must be approached from humanistic perspective would be lost.”en
