dc.descriptionOn Tuesday, Executive Secretary Vera Songwe held a town hall meeting with staff and discussed the work that the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) did in 2018 but, most importantly, highlighted the formidable challenges the continent is bound to face in 2019. She urged every ECA staff member to do their best in trying to find solutions to some of Africa’s major challenges, including growing debt, poverty, and low or marginal growth rates. “ECA has an important role in trying to figure out how we do debt management and growth at the same time. This will be our huge challenge as we go into 2019,” Ms. Songwe said, adding as a think tank, the ECA had to put all hands on deck to help member States.en
