UN Staff Golfers Host Annual Tournament in Honor of Marcelino Tayob, Former Colleague and Chair of the Staff Golfers Association
| dc.description | The United Nations Staff Golfers Association holds a golf tournament every year, open to the wider Addis Ababa community. An invitation is also extended to members of the Addis Ababa Golf Club. This year, following the tragic Ethiopian flight crash in March, the tournament was held in honor of Marcelino Tayob on Saturday, 11 May 2019. Tayob was a staff member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). He was also an avid golfer and served as Chair of the United Nations Staff Golfers Association. He was also a member of the Addis Ababa Golf Club and the Old Legation Golf Club. This year’s tournament saw the participation of over 70 people, including over 30 golfers, as well as United Nations senior-level representation by the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa, Ms. Giovanie Biha, Resident Coordinator, Aeneas Chuma, and the Director of the ILO Country Office for Ethiopia, Alexio Musindo, Mrs. Annabella Campos Tayob, widow of Marcelino Tayob, was also present at the tournament and gave a moving tribute in honor of her late husband. | en |
