The Economic Commission for Africa and Ethiopia signed an agreement marking the start of the renovation of Africa Hall, the home of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), now the African Union. Ms. Songwe thanked the Government of Ethiopia and UN personnel for their hard work on the renovation project. She said the Africa Hall would become a modernized state-of-the-art facility to preserve and restore values. Its architectural heritage and cultural values will allow it to serve more African citizens than ever before.

Mainly the difference of the renovation contained upgraded plenary hall lighting, AV and furniture, new ISO compliant interpreter and technical booths, integrated mechanical and solar protection, and trip hazards. Moreover, integrated modern conference audio visual refurbished original furniture, external facades safe maintenance access.

African Vaccine Acquisition Trust (AVAT) announced the arrival of 108,000 vaccine doses in Ethiopia as a part of the first monthly shipment of Johnson and Johnson vaccines.&#13;
The agreement with Johnson &amp; Johnson was made possible through a USD 2 billion facility provided by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), who are also the financial and transaction advisers, Guarantors, Instalment Payment Advisors, and payment agents. &#13;
The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa(UNECA) provided technical support on the financing arrangements and on the alignment of the AU Ministers of Finance.&#13;
The Minister of Health of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Lia Tadesse welcomed the arrival of the vaccines and said, “ The purchase of these vaccines, will boost our national COVID-19 vaccination program-in addition to supporting the ongoing rollout of the COVID 19”
