Le séminaire de validation des stratégies nationales de la ZLECAf s'est tenu les 17 et 18 octobre 2019 à Lomé. Le Togo élabore sa stratégie nationale de mise en œuvre de la Zone de Libre-Echange Continentale Africaine (ZLECAf), qui a été présentée pour discussions lors d’un atelier de validation à Lomé. La stratégie nationale présente les principes sur lesquels le gouvernement togolais fondera ses actions politiques afin de faciliter une meilleure intégration commerciale du pays aux marchés continentaux et de promouvoir le développement de chaines de valeur régionales. L'atelier visait à recueillir les recommandations de diverses parties prenantes des secteurs public et privé togolais, notamment le Groupe de travail technique sur la ZLECAf, le Comité de la ZLECAf, les associations d'employeurs et les acteurs de la société civile.&#13;
Le discours  été prononcé par Damien Mama, Coordonnateur Résident des Nations Unies au Togo, lors de l'atelier de validation de la stratégie nationale de mise en œuvre de la Zone de Libre Echange Continentale Africaine du Togo. Il a dit que, ‘‘Les études qui existent prouve que la mise en œuvre effective de la ZLECAf contribuera à la transformation structurelle de l'afrique.’’

Webinar on Annotation in SDMX and Open SDGs Follow-up training was held online on March 25, 2024. Angela Kiconco, a statistician at UNECA, organized it. Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange (SDMX) Annotation is a construct that contains user or organization-specific metadata. The annotation construct in SDMX is available to most of the SDMX structural metadata artifacts. Abdulla Gozalov, from the UN Statistics Division, presented SDMX annotations and how they are used in SDG data Structure definition. He also discussed the Annotations order series in the code list, which controls the appearance of annotations, such as 10, 2030. This standard is defined in the Guidelines on SDMX Annotations and has an ID at SDMX, which is how SDMX tools recognize standardized annotations.

<description>Capacity-Building Workshop for the Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX)
Capacity-Building Workshop for the Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX) was held from July 06-07, 2023. The Economic Commission for Africa(ECA) and Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH) co-organized the workshop. The two-day workshop aimed at strengthening the capabilities of key market participants, preparing potential issuers and investors for the ESX's portfolio of instruments, and garnering support from vital policy-making institutions and regulators.&#13;
According to Brook Taye, Director-General of the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA), the ESX will serve as a "key part of a functioning Ethiopian capital market ecosystem." Mr. Taye emphasized that ECMA was "fully committed to supporting the launch of the ESX and will work closely with the ESX team as it becomes a full-fledged securities exchange over the next year."&#13;
As a pioneer securities exchange and market organizer, said Michael Habte, ESX Project Manager, the platform will "play a critical role in the development and growth of the Ethiopian capital markets." He stated that ESX will deploy a "state-of-the-art electronic trading platform for the equity and fixed-income markets as well as an innovative alternative capital market that caters specifically to up-and-coming SMEs."

The training was organized by the Development Planning Section of the, Macroeconomics &amp; Governance Division and the Sub-regional Office for Southern Africa, ECA, in collaboration with the Zambia Ministry of Finance and National Planning. The IPRT has already been deployed in 26 member States and one Regional Economic Community (SADC) with ongoing efforts to ensure its use by all countries on the continent. He said, “The ECA IPRT is the only tool currently that helps countries align both the Agenda 2030 and the Au Agenda 2063 at the Africa we want.”

African Parliamentarians in Addis Ababa had a three-day peer-learning workshop to improve their knowledge and skills in the self-monitoring mechanism established by the African Union to assess performance in political, economic, corporate, and socio-economic governance in African countries accede to the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM). &#13;
The workshop was organized and sponsored by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), the workshop’s theme was “Enhancing the role and effective participation of Parliamentarians in the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) process.”&#13;
The APRM has been called African innovative thinking on governance, whereby national stakeholders hold one another accountable for good governance and suggest a program of action to correct perceived deficits or challenges.

The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the Pan African Parliament (PAP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 14 May 2010 to create closer ties and working relationships between the two groups.&#13;
The signing of the MoU was held during the workshop on APRM Peer Learning.&#13;
ECA Executive Secretary and UN Under-Secretary-General Mr. Abdoulie Janneh called the agreement an affirmation of ECA and PAP’s “shared values and interest in governance.”&#13;
By the terms of the MoU, ECA will assist PAP in several areas, including capacity building and development of parliamentary members and strengthening the role of PAP within the AU system.
